Carriages and Carriage Parts - Rated by the tine carriage lifting capability, there are four sizings of hook type tine carriages. The hook type tine carriages have been standardized.
The carriage bar spacing used for Class 1 is approximately thirteen inches and the Class 1 carriage is rated to hold cargo as much as 2000lbs. The Class 2 carriage is rated to carry loads as much as 5,500lbs with carriage bar spacing of 16 inches. Class III carriages are rated for cargo as much as 10,000 lbs. The carriage bar spacing for this class is twenty inches. Class IV carriages are rated for loads up to 15,500 lbs. The carriage bar spacing used for this capacity is twenty five inches.
The carriages for pin type tines could be different depending on the maker. Pin mounted blades could vary by the amount of offset between the fork eye and the fork. Carriage capacity would be established by the carriage pin size and by the fork size.
